Horsing Around with Nature Noodles

Standard

It’s nature week at my camp right now and who shows up at the lake today other than a girl with a horse. The young girl was great, she let all my camp kids feed and pet her horse Phantom. The children were just so engaged and in love with this horse, it was awesome to watch.

I really love the location of my summer camp. The most random things happen. For example, while I was sitting on the beach today a snake just came slithering up beside me and scared the crapola out of me. This was snake numero two of the day, yuck!!

After the outdoor adventures the kiddos and I went back to camp and made nature noodles (green food coloured spaghetti).

image

Last year I started the tradition of wacky spaghetti day with the camp kiddos. You eat spaghetti with anything other than a fork, knife or spoon. Of course the children love this idea, it’s so messy!

My daughter is a seasoned pro, we have wacky spaghetti nights at home sometimes. So she goes for the utensils with some grip.

Loving summer days at camp, a little sad it’s almost over!

A Sunday Well Spent

Standard

The morning was spent sipping coffee and watching cartoons with the kiddos. I love a relaxed start to my Sunday, it just needs to happen before the busy work week begins again.

image

When we were getting ready to leave the house my son checked on our veggies. The cucumbers that my kinders planted were brought home at the beginning of the summer. I can gladly say that we now have cucumbers!

image

My son picked one of his cucumbers on the way out the door. He ate it just like an apple. He’s such a great eater, it honestly amazes me!

It was also my little nephews birthday today, he turned four. My kiddos were really excited to visit and help him celebrate. I love how happy they make each other and hope they always stay this close. I also found out my sister is expecting baby number two! *Fingers crossed* Our family could use another girl and my nephew could use a little sibling.

To end the day kiddos and I went to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was so unsure about seeing this movie, I mean I love the classic. I have to admit though I really loved it, like I would watch it again in a heart beat.

Suck That Monday! Positivity Takes the Lead

Standard

Please excuse my title but I had a fantabulous Monday! I don’t even think that is a word in the English vocabulary but today it is. It’s been a while since I’ve stepped on a scale so this morning I thought, why not? Well, verdict is…drum roll please…10 pounds down!!

omg-scaleI’ve been working on dropping the pounds since about mid June, so for almost two months now. I was actually really happy to see the ten pound drop. I hope to drop 10 more by the end of September. *Fingers Crossed*

The second thing that made my Monday rock was receiving an incentive/reward from Scentsy. I checked my full mail box (I check it like 3 times a month) and I had a charm representing a successful start to my new business. I became a consultant in June with little expectation and have actually realized that I really love sharing the product with others. I met a deadline that was set by the company and qualified for almost $300 worth of free products! Thanks to my amazing friends/family I have thrived as a Scentsy consultant thus far.

shooting star   The rest of my Monday was smooth sailing, I hope the rest of the week is just as nice. I’m ending the day off with tea and an episode of Bachelor in Paradise, Total trash television for the mind, have to get my drama fix somewhere.

Meow! Scratch that off Thee Ol’ Bucket List

When I heard about the 5k Run or Dye marathon I instantly knew it was something I had to do. I mean, how often does one get to prowl around the city with cat ears and wiskers on their face?

I also liked that the proceeds of the marathon went to a local charity. Having fun and working hard for a cause seemed like a good way to start off a Saturday.

image

This was my team! The crazy cat ladies. In case you’ve never heard of Run or Dye, it’s a 5k run/jog/walk that has dye stations placed in 1k intervals throughout the course. It was one of the many things I had put on my bucket list.

image

I myself am not all that fit. I’ve tried over the last bit to get in shape but it’s a long process. I wasn’t going to let my body or negative opinions stop me from doing something I really wanted to do though.

image

Despite being a bigger girl I do have TONS of energy and a positive mind set. I was a little bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it but I KILLED it!! Two of our team members quit but Corrie cat and I had a blast powering through the uphill walk in the hot hot sun.

image

A huge lesson I’ve learned lately is to have fun, stop undereatimating what I can do and to ignore the negative people around me.

The dye stations were amazing! I love bright colours. The dj at the end of the course was adorable and had fantastic music. I had a blast dancing and celebrating!!

Verdict is: Run or Dye was amazing and everyone should experience it!!
